Experience the adventure of the Short Inca Trail with Lama Glama Travel. We will start early, at 4:00–5:00 A.M., with hotel pickup in Cusco’s historic center. We will walk through mountains and cloud forests, explore sections of the classic Inca Trail, and see amazing archaeological sites.

We will visit Wiñay Wayna, an impressive terraced site, and continue toward Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, where we will enjoy panoramic views. Day 01

Cusco – Inca Trail – Wiñay Wayna

We will begin early with hotel pickup between 4:00 and 5:00 A.M. in Cusco’s historic center. Our bilingual guide will provide safety instructions and prepare us for the trek. We will travel by bus to the starting point of the Short Inca Trail, enjoying views of the Sacred Valley along the way.
We will hike the Inca Trail through well-maintained paths surrounded by cloud forests and Andean mountains. Along the way, we will encounter fascinating flora, wildlife, and small Inca ruins. We will reach Wiñay Wayna, a remarkable archaeological site with terraced structures and ancient stairways. Our guide will explain the Inca engineering and historical significance of the site.
We will enjoy a box lunch near Wiñay Wayna and rest briefly before continuing to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). From this viewpoint, we will witness the first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. The scenery of mountains, forests, and rivers will create memorable photo opportunities. After the hike, we will descend to Aguas Calientes and check in at a comfortable hostel.

Day 02

Machu Picchu Exploration – Return to Cusco

We will wake early and have breakfast at the hostel. Then, we will walk a short distance to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the citadel. We will explore temples, terraces, plazas, and ceremonial structures while learning about Inca history and culture.

We will have time to take photographs and appreciate the breathtaking views of surrounding peaks. Our guide will share details about Machu Picchu’s architecture, astronomy, and religious significance. After the tour, we will ride the train back to Cusco and enjoy the views of the Urubamba River along the way.

Distance traveled: 3–4 km walking inside Machu Picchu
Highest altitude: 2,430 meters above sea level at Machu Picchu

What time does the tour start?

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco’s historic center between 4:00 and 5:00 A.M.

The tour takes about 2 days, starting at 5:00 A.M. on Day 1 and finishing around 6:00 P.M. on Day 2.

No experience is needed. The tour is suitable for anyone who is moderately active and in reasonable shape.
