Come join Lama Glama Travel for the Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour and explore some of the most colorful mountains in the Andes. We will leave Cusco early at 4:00 A.M. and drive through stunning valleys, passing small villages and grazing alpacas. The fresh mountain air will wake us up and get us ready for a fun day of hiking.

The hike takes us to Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain, famous for its bright stripes of minerals. We will walk along gentle hills and stop at viewpoints to take in the scenery. There will be plenty of chances to take photos and enjoy the peaceful mountains. From some spots, we can even see Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain in the distance, which makes the views even more incredible.

Day 01

Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain Full Day

We will start the day with a hotel pickup in Cusco’s historic center between 4:00 and 5:00 A.M. From there, we will drive through beautiful Andean valleys toward Checacupe. Along the way, we will pass small villages and see alpacas grazing. The morning light will show snow-capped peaks and rolling highland landscapes, making the drive a scenic start to the day.

When we get to Palcoyo, the hike begins along gentle slopes and scenic viewpoints. We will explore the colorful layers of Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain and snap photos of the bright mineral stripes. In the distance, we will see Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, adding even more amazing views. We will take breaks to enjoy warm drinks and keep an eye out for local wildlife.

The trail will take us to the Ausangate mirador, where we can soak in stunning views of the Andes. We will enjoy the calm highlands while our guide shares fun stories about the culture and geology of the area. The hike also passes the nearby bosque de piedras, a cool stone forest, with plenty of stops for photos and to enjoy the scenery.
