Experience the adventure of the Inca Trail from Cusco to Machu Picchu with Lama Glama Travel. We will start early, between 4:00 and 5:00 A.M., with hotel pickup in Cusco’s historic center. We will hike the classic Inca Trail, walking through mountains, cloud forests, and ancient ruins. The trail is a bit challenging but the amazing scenery makes it worth it.

Along the way, we will visit incredible sites like Wayllabamba, Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, and Phuyupatamarca. Our guide will share stories about their history, architecture, and significance. We will hike toward Wiñay Wayna and climb to Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, for incredible views of Machu Picchu. There are plenty of chances to snap amazing photos of the Andes and Inca ruins.

The journey ends at Machu Picchu, where we will explore temples, terraces, and ceremonial plazas. We will learn about Inca culture, astronomy, and engineering while enjoying the surrounding mountain views. After the visit, we will take the train back to Cusco, remembering all the highlights from our 4-day, 3-night adventure. Day 01

Cusco – Km 82 – Wayllabamba

We will start early, between 4:00 and 5:00 A.M., with hotel pickup in Cusco’s historic center. We will take a bus to Kilómetro 82, the official starting point of the classic Inca Trail. Our bilingual guide will give a quick safety briefing and some tips before we hit the trail.
The hike will take us along gentle trails, crossing rivers, small villages, and lush greenery. Along the way, we will enjoy the stunning Andean scenery and spot local plants and wildlife. We will reach Wayllabamba, our first campsite, where we can rest and enjoy a hot meal prepared by the camp staff.

Day 02

Wayllabamba – Warmiwañusca – Pacaymayo

We will wake up early for breakfast and pack our gear for the most challenging day of the trek. We will hike up to Warmiwanusca, the Dead Woman’s Pass, the highest point on the trail. The climb is steep, but the views of the surrounding mountains make it worth the effort.

After reaching the pass at 4,200 meters, we will start our descent to Pacaymayo. Along the way, we will see terraces, small ruins, and changing landscapes. At the Pacaymayo campsite, we can relax and enjoy a hearty dinner under the stars.

Day 03

Pacaymayo – Runkurakay – Sayacmarca – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna

We will leave Pacaymayo and hike through cloud forests and Andean peaks. Along the way, we will visit Runkurakay, a circular Inca ruin, and continue to Sayacmarca, perched on a ridge with amazing views. Our guide will share the history and purpose of each site.
Next, we will reach Phuyupatamarca, the “Town Above the Clouds,” known for its terraces, fountains, and ceremonial structures. Then we will head to Wiñay Wayna, a stunning site with terraces and stairways overlooking the valley. We will set up camp near Wiñay Wayna and enjoy a warm dinner prepared by the support team.

Day 3 Statistics:

Route: Pacaymayo – Runkurakay – Sayacmarca – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna

Day 04

Wiñay Wayna – Inti Punku – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will wake early and hike to Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, to see Machu Picchu at sunrise. We will take panoramic photos and enjoy views of the ancient city before descending into Machu Picchu.

Our guide will lead a tour of Machu Picchu, exploring temples, plazas, and terraces. We will learn about Inca culture, astronomy, and architecture. After the tour, we will take the train back to Cusco and enjoy the views of the Urubamba River.

Day 4 Statistics:

Distance traveled: 5 km walking inside Machu Picchu
Highest altitude: 2,720 meters above sea level at Machu Picchu
Lowest altitude: 2,040 meters above sea level at Aguas Calientes
Route: Wiñay Wayna – Inti Punku – Machu Picchu – Cusco by train

What time does the tour start?

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:00 and 5:00 A.M. on Day 1.

How long is the tour?

The tour lasts 4 days and 3 nights, from approximately 5:00 A.M. on Day 1 to 6:00 P.M. on Day 4.

Do we need previous trekking experience?

You do not need any prior experience to join the tour. We will hike on moderate to challenging trails suitable for active participants.

We will provide safety instructions, trail guidance, and camping support. Trekking poles and personal gear are optional.

Yes, we will include entrance tickets to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu throughout the trek.
